We take our iPhones everywhere with us because they’re so useful.
And some apps will track our locations as part of their normal jobs.
For instance, sharing your live location on WhatsApp requires access to your real-world movements.
And an app like Uber might need to know your location to provide you with a taxi service.
But some apps may be monitoring your iPhone location for more nefarious reasons.
Even if the reason isn’t dodgy, apps pointlessly tracking your location in the background can cause serious drain on your battery life.

So it’s better to be in the loop with which apps are tracking your location.
Viral TikTok star Scott Polderman shared a genius hack to find out exactly when your location is being logged.
It will instantly alert you when any app tracks your location.
Then you can go into Settings and disable location access for that specific app, if you suspect it’s being rogue – or useless.
First, make sure you’re using the latest version of iOS.
Go into Settings > General > Software Update and upgrade to the most recent version.
Now open up Settings again, then go to Privacy and check that Location Services is On.
Tap into it and then scroll all the way to the bottom to System Services.
This is where you can see apps that have requested access to your location.
A hollow arrow shows that an app might receive your location under “certain conditions”, a purple arrow means it has recently tracked you, and grey means you’ve been monitored in the last 24 hours.
Tap in to System Services and then scroll down to the bottom again.
There you’ll want to toggle Status Bar Icon to the On position.
This means you’ll see the Location Services icon in the status bar when a service requests your location.
That way an app will never be able to track your movements without there being a symbol alerting you to it.
