Mike Tyson on Short Training Sessions – “If I Keep It Going, We Will Miss Tom and Jerry”

Mike Tyson was ruthless in and out of the ring. ‘Iron’ Mike started training at the age of 13 and learned how to knock people out very early on. Ever since he was 13, every trainer he was with knew there was something special about the kid from New York.

His raw punching power and technique came after long hours of workouts and training. Tyson was one of the fighters that would leave it all out in the ring. No matter whether it was during training or in a fight.

However, according to Tyson‘s ex-bodyguard and chauffeur Rudy Gonzalez, there was one thing that Tyson would shorten his training sessions for.

“When we trained in Vegas, his sparring sessions were from 12 to 5 pm. He would be the nicest guy beforehand asking the sparring partners: ‘How you doing today, how’s the family?’ Then he would just knock out five guys all out so within an hour so there was nobody left.” Gonzalez told The Sun.

Some fighters would even quit saying, no matter how much they paid them, they would not fight Tyson.“So one day I asked: ‘Boss, I am confused, isn’t this about working on techniques?‘. He replied: ‘If I keep it going we will miss Tom and Jerry cartoons.’

Mike Tyson is a big fan of cartoons, and once he even had his own cartoon. Who would have thought that ‘The Baddest man on the planet’ had a soft spot for Tom and Jerry?
