Sex And The City reboot airs heartbreak as major character set for divorce

Warning, spoilers for Sex And The City’s And Just Like That ahead.

The Sex And The City reboot on HBO aired further heartbreak in episode four as it’s revealed the late Willie Garson’s Stanford Blatch wants a divorce.

In the latest chapter of And Just Like That Stanford’s partner Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone) disclosed that their marriage is coming to an end.

News of an impending split was unearthed when Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw returned to her flat where she found a note from her gay best friend.

In the message, she learned that Stanford has jetted off to Japan to follow one of his TikTok star clients.

Anthony later dropped by Carrie’s place and tells her that Stanford wants to separate.

Only time will tell whether Stanford and Anthony will split for good, but the couple has been having issues in recent scenes.

The late Willie Garson died in September aged 57 following a battle with cancer.

Sex And The City stars expressed their sadness over watching the final scenes filmed by Garson in the reboot series earlier this month.

Following the news of his death, Sarah paid tribute to her late friend, saying that it had been ‘unbearable’ to cope in the aftermath of his passing.

Garson and Sarah had been friends for a decade before Sex And The City premiered in 1998.

Speaking to US Weekly in June, he said: ‘As you probably know, Sarah Jessica and I were friends for 10 years before the show. And we’re still the closest of friends. We talk almost every day.’

Discussing reuniting with his co-stars for And Just Like That, he added: ‘We talk on, like, Twitter sometimes and whatever, but I don’t spend enough face time with Cynthia. I’m really looking forward to spending time with her, actually together.’

As well as Sex And The City, which originally ran from 1998 to 2004, Garson was known for his role as Mozzie in police procedural White Collar.

And Just Like That airs on Sky Comedy and is available to stream on NOW.
