Dame Joan Collins has taken a trip down memory lane, remembering how she was called a ‘super b***h’ in newspaper articles written decades ago.

On New Year’s Day, TV viewers will be given the chance to gain a greater insight into the Dynasty star’s life in a new BBC documentary called This Is Joan Collins.

In a preview released ahead of the full programme, the clip showed the dame reading newspaper cuttings about herself, which had been collated in a book.

One of the old articles featured a headline that supposedly quoted her father, Joe Collins, who was a talent agent to Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones and the Beatles.

The first one that Dame Joan read out stated: ‘Being bad is good business for Joan Collins.’

As she moved onto the next article, she said: ‘Oh Daddy, saying: “I’m so proud of my sexy, super b***h daughter.” He would never have said those words.’

She continued, with further references to her being a ‘super b***h’.

‘“The rise of the super bh.” Ah yes, the super bh. I don’t know who made this book. It’s not my writing. I think at one point I had three secretaries,’ she stated.

After watching the snippet of the documentary, several people expressed their excitement over watching it.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing this. Should be quite entertaining,’ one person tweeted, while another quoted the dame, saying: ‘“At one point, I had 3 secretaries”. I need to be more Joan Collins.’

The feature-length film about the 88-year-old features home videos that have never been shown before.

In the synopsis for the documentary, the BBC states: ‘A worldwide television phenomenon with her decade-defining role in Dynasty, Collins shares her extraordinary archive and never before seen home movie footage, giving an intimate glimpse into one of the world’s most iconic figures.

‘Against a backdrop of Collins’s own narration, her story showcases the extraordinary life of a woman who has lived through the glitz, the glamour and the enduring moments of Hollywood history, and survived it all with panache.’

This Is Joan Collins airs on New Year’s Day at 9pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
