Ex-Nike worker reveals how you can get a FREE pair of trainers as she reveals the store’s secrets

AN EX-retail worker who spent five years at a Nike store has spilled the beans on how customers can score a new pair of trainers for FREE.

The woman, who appears to be from the US, said that you can simply swap an old pair for brand new shoes within one year of purchase, assuming they are “defective”.

Tik TokShe said if your shoe is “defected” you can easily swap them for a new pair – even after wearing them[/caption]

In the clip she posted on TikTok, the woman, who now works as a hairdresser, explained: “Defective is considered any normal wear and tear on shoes.”

Holding a worn Nike shoe to the camera she explained that “defects” could mean a faded or worn Nike tick on the side of the shoe, for example, or if the front of the trainer starts to peel off.

Another reason for you to grab a free pair could be because the laces break on your current pair, or the “air bubble” some Nike styles have “pops”.

“Any of those are considered defective,” she said. “So what they’re going to do is return them for you under defective, give you a gift card and you’ll be able to buy a new pair.”

Her video attracted quite the response with shoppers thrilled by the idea of getting a free pair of shoes.

However, many remained skeptical until one woman revealed she scored a new pair for her son by using this hack.

She wrote: “You go online and fill out the form. You just look at the tag inside the shoe to see the dates. I just did my son’s shoes.”

She explained that she did it just last month and that her son received a $200 gift voucher to spend online.

Some people argued the time in which you can return a pair, with many suggesting it’s just 30 days.

While it’s not known if the same policy applies to Nike UK, the returns policy does state that “defective or faulty products can be returned with a valid proof of purchase within two years of the order delivery or store purchase date.”

AlamyNike UK also have a similar policy, although a free pair isn’t always guaranteed[/caption]

According to the website: “If your item is defective or faulty and it’s been less than 30 days since your purchase, simply choose one of the options above to return the item. If it’s been more than 30 days since your purchase, please contact us to return the item.”

And continues: “Defective or faulty products can be returned with a valid proof of purchase within two years of the order delivery or store purchase date. Some Nike products have specific written guarantees and/or warranties. Please refer to the product label, tag or warranty card for specific returns guidelines.”

So while there is a chance you could receive a gift voucher to put towards a new pair of shoes, this isn’t always the case – but it’s definitely worth giving it a go.
