“I Would Want to Redo That One”: Usain Bolt Regrets the ‘Only Blunder’ of His Track Career
When an athlete is at the peak of his career, a wrong move that can take it all away is always feared. Usain Bolt was loving life during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won the 100 and 200-meter races by setting world records in both competitions. Moving forward to the 2009 Athletics World Championships in Berlin, he created history by shortening the world records in both those events from Beijing. Hence, given his unbelievable run, no-one envisaged the mishap at the 2011 Championships.
The memory of him making a false start at the peak of his career haunts Usain to this day. With millions of people glued onto the TV sets, Bolt made a false start in the 100-meters competition that sent shock waves throughout the world. In a recent interview, he opened up on that infamous incident, wishing to go back and make amends.

The 2011 Athletics World Championships in Daegu saw some of the most talented athletes competing together in the race. At the peak of his powers, Bolt was the favorite heading into the event. As the athletes took their stance, the crowd in South Korea held their breath. What happened next was something outrageous.
During a time when the IAF changed the false start rules from two attempts to one, never in their life would they have imagined that the greatest sprinter in the world would fall prey to their rules. Nothing can be substituted right now, as Bolt wishes he could redo that moment of his career.
“If I had to relive a moment to be 2020 level, I think for me that’s the only blunder in my career. True, after I started, you know eight. So for me, I would definitely want to redo on that one,” said Bolt.
Apart from that gold medal, he won every single competition from the 2008 Beijing Olympics to the 2016 Rio Olympics; including all the World Championships in between. That’s the supremacy he showed for almost a decade. Hence, he regrets that one mistake to date.
Yohan Blake wins the race
Memorably, Bolt’s training partner Yohan Blake clocked a time of 9.92 seconds to bring home the gold medal there. Despite his sensational victory, Blake wanted to dedicate his triumph to Bolt as he himself was shocked at the events that transpired before him.
“I don’t think I can find words to explain it, I feel like I want to cry. I have been praying for this moment, this is all a dream for me right now. Usain Bolt has been there for me. I felt I would win the race for Bolt,” said Bolt.
To sum up, this moment stays in the hearts and minds of most athletic fans. There is no doubt that he is the fastest man alive; however, just imagine the titanic achievement that would have been for the greatest sprinter alive!
