Virgin Atlantic cancels all flights to holiday destination until February

VIRGIN Atlantic has been forced to cancel a number of flights until February due to continued travel restrictions.

The airline has emailed travellers with flights to Hong Kong that all routes from London Heathrow to the city have been suspended until February 7.

Virgin has cancelled flights to Hong Kong due to the UK travel ban

The email, shared on social media, says: “As a result of Covid-19 and the changing global travel restrictions, we’re constantly reviewing our flying programme.

“This has unfortunately meant we’ve had to make some schedule changes and cancellations.

“We’re sorry to let you know that we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all London Heathrow to Hong Kong passenger services up to and including February 7, 2022, as we work with authorities to overcome current operational challenges on this route.”

Sun Online Travel has contacted Virgin Atlantic for comment.

Hong Kong announced earlier this week that eight countries have been put on their inbound flight ban list, in place from January 8.

This includes the UK, along with France, Australia, the US, Canada, India, Pakistan and the Philippines.

The suspension is in place for at least two weeks, but could be extended.

Hong Kong’s ban comes as the latest travel blow for Brits hoping to go abroad.

Other countries are introducing new travel restrictions, with Spain and Cyprus requiring Covid tests from all arrivals, even if fully vaccinated.

Some are choosing to lift restrictions instead – Germany has lifted the UK ban while France confirmed they will ease some restrictions.

The UK is lifting a number of travel restrictions regarding tests and isolation periods from tomorrow – here is everything you need to know.
