Oti Mabuse will be hosting a brand new dating show on ITV called Romeo & Duet.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional, 31, has been used to performing alongside someone on the dancefloor, but now viewers will see her take centre stage in the upcoming series.

Romeo & Duet, which is influenced by one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays Romeo and Juliet, will involve single love seekers standing on a breathtaking balcony while being serenaded by potential love matches that they can hear, but not see.

Once they’ve wooed their match, they will then meet face-to-face before returning later in the show to perform a duet in an ultimate romance battle against the other couples.

An interesting crossover between Take Me Out and X Factor we think!

Although not much is known about when it’ll air, production is set to start this month. The two-time Strictly champion expressed her ‘excitement’ over her new presenting gig and described the opportunity as a ‘real pinch me moment.’

Speaking about her latest project, she said: ‘I honestly can’t wait to get started! It’s about love with a little bit of a twist and showcase of talent, it’s fresh and fun, and I hope everyone’s going to love it as much as I do.’

ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe added: ‘Romeo & Duet is a fun twist on the dating show format, and Oti Mabuse is the perfect choice to host this entertaining cross between music and matchmaking.’

Oti has certainly been in demand recently, as the Masked Dancer judge will also be replacing John Barrowman on the Dancing On Ice panel alongside, which features skating legends Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, and Diversity star Ashley Banjo.

When she spoke about joining the ‘greatest show on ice,’ Oti said: ‘I can’t wait to see the celebrities thrive as they learn how to ice-skate and to champion the professional skaters as they create incredible choreography.’

Fans haven’t got long to wait to see Oti in action as the hit competition series will be making its debut on Sunday, January 16 at 6.30pm.
