McLaren CEO Puts Seidl Over Horner & Wolff as the Best Team Principal in F1
Team Principals play a huge in how their squad performs during a Formula One weekend. Many would argue that Toto Wolff of Mercedes and Christian Horner of Red Bull are the best on the grid. However, McLaren CEO, Zak Brown thinks that Andreas Seidl outshines the two team bosses.
Seidl became the team principal in 2019 and has played a vital role in the team’s success on the grid. In 2020, he helped the Woking-based outfit finish third in the teams’ standings, and in 2021, aided them in their victory at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. Seeing how he has helped the team grow, Brown puts Seidl above the likes of Horner and Wolff.
McLaren CEO Brown favors Andreas Seidl over Wolff and Horner
Horner and Wolff are arguably some of the best team principals in Formula One. However, instead of choosing between them, Brown backs one of this own to be the best team boss on the grid.
Speaking to Motorsport.com, “He took the big pressure off my shoulders and he carried it himself. I would say he did an excellent job. In my opinion, the best team principal in Formula 1 is Andreas.”

“He runs the race team, it’s his show. The collaboration with Andreas is excellent. We complement each other wonderfully. There are things that I contribute, things that he contributes. But there is nothing overlapping. We have a lot of fun together. This leads to good performance and fun, and therefore positive results,” Brown concluded. (Translated from Turkish via Google)

With 115 points, the Australian concluded the season in eighth place in the standings. All in all, the Seidl-led team finished the season in fourth place with 275 points under their belt.
