UFC Announce Massive Heavyweight Fight for February

UFC heavyweight contenders Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Marcin Tybura will go head-to-head at UFC Vegas 49 set for February 26. Both men are ranked inside the top 10, with Rozenstruik coming in with a number 6 rankings and Tybura with a number 9 ranking. This means that a big showing at UFC Vegas 49 could help the winner stand out.

The heavyweight title will be on the line in a matter of weeks, as Francis Ngannou defends his belt against Ciryl Gane. Recording a clean finish soon after the heavyweight title is contested for, may just be the way to go for the winner of the match-up. Not to mention, the other marquee stars at the top, such as Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, have already fought for the belt in the past.

UFC Vegas 49: Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs Marcin Tybura

‘Bigi Boy’ is coming off a rather lackluster unanimous decision loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 266 back in September 2021. The Surinamese fighter hasn’t stayed consistent in his recent outings going 3-3 in his last six fights. If he is to make a run towards the title, he will have to record a few wins in a row to consolidate his position at the top.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik’s kickboxing skill set is as dangerous as they come, and he’s capable of shutting off the lights with one blow. He’s adept at entering into range with ease and possesses disarming amounts of speed and accuracy. ‘Tybur’ will be well advised to stay on the outside and avoid being cornered by the Surinamese striker.

Marcin Tybura was on a roll in the past two years building up a UFC career-best five fight win streak that started in 2020. He continued this momentum, recording one win in 2021, before losing a fight to Alexander Volkov at the end of the year. It will be paramount that he once again gets back to winning ways so he can climb back to the top.

Marcin Tybura’s biggest asset is his ability to set up his desired pace right from the onset. He uses plotting yet tactical movements to break down his opponents and can also throw in some slams and trips against the cage for good measure.
