The now 77 charges include: first-degree intentional homicide [six counts], first-degree recklessly endangering safety [61 counts], hit and run resulting in death [two counts], misdemeanor battery [two counts].

Each first-degree intentional homicide charge carries a mandatory life sentence if Brooks is convicted.

Brooks is accused of allegedly driving his SUV through a crowd of people during a Christmas parade. Prosecutors say Brooks intentionally swerved his vehicle with the intent of hitting people.

The criminal complaint claims that Brooks had ignored several attempts to stop him.
