He spoke about it after his Zurich Classic win last year with Marc Leishman. While he promised his girlfriend he would cut it, he was unable to do it. “I would have to apologize to my girlfriend, it’s not going away. I mean, it’s, I feel like it’s part of me now,” Smith said.

Smith is also aware that the fans love it and believes it is good to have something fun going around that can make people laugh.

The four-time PGA Tour winner also added an Olympic twist to his mullet, which even had his mother calling him names. The golfer got the word “AUS” written on the side of his head. While people ended up focusing on the mullet, Smith only wanted to give a shout-out to his country.

“My mom called me up. She was laughing. She was like, oh, you were just on the news,” he said. “Called me all sorts of names, but she loved it and she loves that it brings a lot of, I guess, joy to, it puts a smile on people’s faces, I think, she enjoys the most, so, yeah.”
