‘I Want to Win’: Bryson DeChambeau Has High Hopes for Augusta With the New Cobra Driver

Bryson DeChambeau is an eight-time PGA Tour winner and is probably one of the best ball strikers of all time. Notably, he was even part of the winning Team USA at the 2021 Ryder Cup at Wisconsin.

However, Bryson is known for being very vocal. One of his bold statements came back in November 2020, about Augusta playing like “a par 67 for me.” However, Bryson couldn’t capitalize on his words and finished tied 46th position in the delayed Masters tournament in 2020.

Bryson DeChambeau defends his comments on Agusta

Bryson in his defense said, “You can put the par at whatever you want it to be. What I was saying was just based on distances I was having in relative length, and people are going to take that the wrong way.”

“I never meant it to be that that way – it was always just this is what I’m thinking about the golf course as a strategy and it didn’t really pan out. I played terribly and it is what it is, right? At the end of the day, I look at it as Augusta is in my sights and I want to win.”

He added, “I definitely have my sights on Augusta and can’t wait to see what I can do with this new length and new driver.

Bryson DeChambeau has always been in the midst of controversies, be it with his fellow professional golfer Brooks Koepka or be it other instances such as the saddle putter controversy.

Bryson’s amateur days

DeChambeau was quite famous even in his early days before becoming a professional golfer. He won the NCAA Division 1 as well as the US Amateur title in 2015. Notably, he is only the fifth player in history to win both events in the same year. Truly, Bryson has always been a great player.
