Josie Gibson has shared that she was told to apply for a job at Lidl before landing the major gig of presenting This Morning

The Big Brother winner – who has hosted the much-loved daytime show alongside Vernon Kay and Phillip Schofield – said it was only recently her nan suggested going to work for the supermarket.

Speaking to The Sun, Josie said: ‘It was only a few years ago that my nan suggested I apply for a job at Lidl because they are good payers.’

Reflecting on her TV success, she continued: ‘I think something has always had my back – I don’t know what it is.

‘I suppose I’m quite religious. Then again, you don’t know what’s around the corner – it could be here today and gone tomorrow, so you’ve got to enjoy it.’

The Bristolian became a reality TV icon when she won Big Brother in 2010, before later taking part in Ultimate Big Brother.

She joined the This Morning family in 2019 to front the short competition VTs, and she regularly had viewers in stitches with her antics.

But, she’s moved up in the world, and now sits on the famous ITV sofa, interviewing guests.

Josie recently revealed that she cried after making her presenting debut on the show, as she stepped in to replace Holly Willoughby after the regular came down with a stomach bug.

The 36-year-old was left very emotional after her first stint, which she shared with Phil when he welcomed her back for a second consecutive day, telling his co-star how much people ‘loved’ her debut the previous morning.

Josie explained: ‘Do you know what? Social media can be quite a dark place at times.

‘But yesterday I was showered with love. I had a good cry, I did have a cry for about half an hour after the show.’

Her co-host joked that he often did the same, before asking: ‘Of what, relief?’
