Millie Mackintosh got very real about the difficulties that can affect some women when breastfeeding as she revealed she asked husband Hugo Taylor to ‘suck out’ a painful mastitis blockage in her breast.

The NHS describes mastitis as a condition that causes the breast to become swollen, hot and painful, and other symptoms such as a swelling or a hard lump on the breast, nipple discharge, a burning sensation in the breast when breastfeeding and flu-like symptoms can affect those who suffer.

The Made in Chelsea star revealed the extreme lengths she has gone to in a bid to ease the pain caused by the inflammation of breast tissue after having her second daughter, two-month-old Aurelia, via C-section.

The 32-year-old influencer told her 1.4 million followers that she had requested that Hugo ‘try sucking out the blockage’, but that he was ‘not keen’.

She said on her Instagram Stories: ‘Hi everyone, just a little update, thank you so much for all your advice on mastitis. I’ve had so many lovely messages and I’m on antibiotics.

‘I went to a women’s health physio yesterday and had a really painful but effective massage and that has definitely helped a little bit.

‘And also they used an ultrasound machine to help break down the blockage. The area is still sore but it’s actually not red anymore because the area was bright red, so that’s good.’

Millie then laughed, and added: ‘I have asked Hugo to try sucking out the blockage but he is not keen so we won’t be trying that!’

As a result, the TV star looked into other options.

She said: ‘But what I am going to try today is Epsom salts with hot water in a hacker pump because loads of you said to try that. So I will keep you posted on how we are getting on.’

Millie and fellow Made In Chelsea star Hugo, 35, are also parents to 20-year-old daughter Sienna.

In December, Millie opened up about her difficult breastfeeding journey, telling her followers that the experience hadn’t been ‘plain sailing’.

She shared a photo of herself breastfeeding her youngest child and wrote: ‘I feel very lucky that Aurelia has taken to breastfeeding and I really cherish the one on one time, but it hasn’t been plain sailing so far!

‘We’re currently navigating reflux, projectile vomiting and tongue tie. Pair that with engorgement, over (and uneven) supply, cluster feeding, sleepless nights and well it’s a lot.’

Reassuring her followers that struggling with breastfeeding is totally normal, she added: ‘To other mums in the newborn bubble right now, I see you! We got this.

‘We’re still finding our feet, but once we have it figured out a little more [fingers crossed emoji] I’ll definitely share more about our journey.’
