Stripping naked is so much easier than singing, says supermodel Heidi Klum who releases her first song with Snoop Dogg

SHE has been a top supermodel for three decades, but Heidi Klum is ready to take on a fresh challenge by hitting the charts at the age of 48.

The German fashion queen has teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg for her first single, released yesterday — and stripped off to raunchy fishnets and underwear for an accompanying video.

But in an exclusive interview with The Sun, the host of Germany’s Next Top Model admits she was more nervous flaunting her vocal range than her figure, joking: “This is definitely much scarier than showing off my body.”

Heidi, who split from singer Seal in 2014 after nine years of marriage, explains: “I’ve done a bit of singing before — on America’s Got Talent and once in the past with my ex-husband at a show, but putting out my own single is totally out of my comfort zone.

“It started as a theme tune for my show, Germany’s Next Top Model, but once we got Snoop Dogg involved and pulled it together we thought, ‘Why not put it out properly’ — I just love Snoop, I’m a huge fan so I couldn’t be more excited.

“It has been the most amazing experience to try something new. I’ve always liked to push my boundaries and scare myself a bit.

“I’ve obviously done lots of performances on catwalks, I’ve shown off my body and done shoots without my clothes on, but this is probably the most daunting thing.

“But I’m very proud of it — I got in touch with all the people involved and organised it myself, so it feels like all my own hard work has paid off.

“The hardest thing was getting hold of Rod Stewart for permission to sample one of his songs, Baby Jane.

“We’d actually already recorded it, so suddenly I had to make sure it was OK with him — and I don’t know him personally, so I had to get his contact details from a mutual friend.

“I emailed him but then I didn’t hear anything back for weeks, so I thought it must be a no.

“I was really scared the whole thing was just never going to be released — and then I found his answer in my spam folder, and he said it sounded like lots of fun and sent a thumbs- up. It was a huge relief.”

Pictures of the mum-of-four went viral last week after she wore a daring slashed yellow dress held together only by laces on the entire length of her side.

And having stripped nude for fashion shoots through-out her career, Heidi admits she has had to develop a thick skin — but will never stop flashing her flesh.

The beauty, who married Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz in 2019, explains: “I’ll probably still be wearing mini- dresses and revealing outfits in my sixties or more. It’s just who I am and I like it — it makes me feel great, and it’s all about being confident.

“Over the years I’ve had to get a bit of a tough exterior, but I always think, ‘If you don’t want to see me like this, there are loads of other things you can look at’.

“Hopefully me still doing shoots and showing off my body at 48 will inspire others — there used to be an age limit on modelling but I hope that’s changing, and I’d like to do whatever I can to keep changing that.

“On my TV show this year we have models in their sixties, and there are a number of very successful women still working at the top level in modelling who are also in their sixties and seventies, which is great.

‘I’M NOT INTO THE GYM AT ALL’

“On top of that it’s become OK to be all shapes and sizes, to have lumps and bumps — that image of what a model had to look like when I started out has finally started to change.”

But despite stripping off — including in the daring video shoot to her track with Snoop, titled Chai Tea With Heidi, which sees her in an ultra-revealing lace dress and lingerie — Heidi maintains she is no gym fanatic.

She adds: “Rankin directed the video. He’s my all-time favourite photographer and director, and I love the result. It was just right, and I felt confident in the outfit even if it’s short and revealing.

“It’s all about what I eat, I’m not into the gym at all. I’ve got four kids and two dogs, so I never get time to sit on the sofa eating potato chips — I’m active all the time.

“I’d far rather exercise like that than go and spend hours in a gym every day, so I just focus on my diet and try to eat things which are healthy. These days there is so much choice out there.”

Heidi welcomed daughter Leni, 17, with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore in 2004 and went on to have three more children — Henry, 16, Johan, 15, and 12-year-old Lou — with Seal, who also raised Leni as his own.

Heidi first emerged on the fashion scene in the early Nineties, and has gone on to become one of the most successful models of all time.

She consistently appears in lists of the world’s top-earning catwalk stars and has amassed an estimated £160million fortune.

She has appeared on the covers of top magazines around the world including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, hosted the famous Victoria’s Secret runway shows five times after appearing as one of the brand’s “Angels” — and fronted campaigns for designers including Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy.

She has also produced TV shows including Project Runway in the US and had guest appearances on Sex And The City and Ocean’s 8, while launching several clothing and make-up ranges.

While Heidi calls third husband, German rocker Tom, her “biggest supporter”, her best-known musical connection is Simon Cowell, who she has worked with on America’s Got Talent since 2013.

‘I WASN’T SURPRISED THAT SIMON PROPOSED’

Despite his reputation as a tough pop critic, Heidi insists she isn’t too concerned about what he would make of her singing career.

On the music mogul, who recently proposed to Lauren Silverman — the mother of his son Eric — Heidi adds: “Simon is a really great guy. Everyone has been supportive of the single so hopefully it will stay that way, but it’s great news about him getting engaged to Lauren.

“A lot of people said they are surprised he’s finally going to get married but I wasn’t at all, I know them and they’re perfect together.

“Lauren is wonderful, she’s a strong and clever woman who is very independent — you have to be to be with a strong man like Simon — so they complement each other perfectly.

“I’ve seen the ring too, it’s absolutely huge — and gorgeous.

“Size isn’t everything but it’s beautiful too, as well as being big enough to ice skate on — I’m so pleased for them both. I know they’re going to keep making each other very happy.”

Heidi and Snoop Dogg’s single, Chai Tea With Heidi, is out now.
