‘Too Invasive for Me’: Bryson DeChambeau Firmly Rejects the PGA Tour Netflix Docuseries

Bryson DeChambeau is an American professional golfer who is famous for his big-hitting. Bryson has eight PGA Tour wins as well as one major championship win, the 2020 US Open. Not to forget, he won the US Amateur title in the year 2015.

Notably, Bryson has often been in the mix with controversies such as the Brooks and Bryson feud or the saddle putter controversy. However, the latest of them is not committing to the PGA Tour and the Netflix docuseries.

Why is Bryson DeChambeau not a part of the docuseries?

The PGA Tour and the OTT giant Netflix are working on a docuseries that covers all the four major championships as well as the PGA Tour. PGA Tour announced a list of players who have committed to being a part of the docuseries. The list includes some famous names in the sport like Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson as well as Jordan Spieth, and 18 other players. The series will be produced by Box To Box Films and Vox Media Studios.

However, the list of committed players does not include the likes of Bryson DeChambeau. Bryson, in a media conference for promoting the Saudi International, gave his reasons for not featuring in the docuseries. He said, “There’s a lot of factors going on in that. One, there wasn’t a deal that was struck that was very well for my side of it. I love Netflix. I watch it and I have a great time with it. But just for me, it wasn’t right at the present moment.”

He added, “They’re getting a pretty dang good look inside my life [from YouTube]. And to have more people come in and go even further, which is almost impossible for what I’m giving out, is just too invasive for me.”

“There’s a lot of great people on there. If I was to go on there, yeah, it would be cool to see, but I feel like there’s a lot more interesting stories. You’ve got Harry Higgs. You’ve got numerous others,” he concluded.

DeChambeau’s season opener

Bryson had somewhat of an average tournament at the PGA Tour opener in Kapalua. He finished at tied 25th position with an overall score of 16 under par 276.
