Aliyah sets WWE record for fastest match in history with huge SmackDown win

SmackDown star Aliyah could find herself in the Guinness Book of World Records after scoring the fastest WWE win in history on Friday night.

The 27-year-old wrestler – who first signed with the company back in 2015 before finally getting called up to the blue brand in November – hasn’t featured in any meaningful way the show for a while but made an impression with her return this week.

Aliyah found herself booked in a match against the veteran Natalya, who gloated about the fact she legitimately has three Guinness World Records – more matches, more PPV matches and more wins than any woman in WWE history.

She set her sights on another record, wanting to beat her opponent in less than 3.8 seconds to secure the fastest ever victory.

The Queen of Harts tried to stack the odds in her favour, beating down Aliyah before the bell to give herself an advantage and all but guarantee a quick win.

However, Aliyah – who insisted she could compete – reacted instantly as the bell rang, and securing the shock pinfall win in 3.17 seconds, smashing the record in the process.

She looked overjoyed, while her opponent looked disappointed after being so confident beforehand.

This should set up a feud for the two stars, with the Royal Rumble on January 29 providing the ideal backdrop for another big moment for Aliyah if she can eliminated the veteran performer.

It’s a good way to build her up, with WWE getting to tell a different story rooted in Natalya’s on-screen arrogance over her very real accomplishments.

Elsewhere on SmackDown, Hall of Famer Lita made a huge impression as she returned and laid out Charlotte Flair just weeks before they could be facing off in the Royal Rumble match.

Former Shield partners Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins clashed on the mic – but didn’t come to blows – as they build up to their huge Universal Championship bout at the same event on January 29.

And Sami Zayn tried to one-up Johnny Knoxville with his own Jackass style stunt which didn’t go to plan as he got embarrassed by Rick Boogs and the Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
