Dominic Thiem, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Others React to Netflix Announcing F1 ‘Drive to Survive’ Like Docuseries for Tennis

Sports documentary series have been quite popular over the past few years. The likes of ‘Being Serena’ on tennis star Serena Williams and ‘The Last Dance’ have garnered the attention of the masses. Moreover, people have enjoyed watching the athletes on their road to glory, which is well documented by such series’.

Recently, it was announced that Netflix would be coming up with a documentary series on tennis. Much to the excitement of the tennis fans, the series will follow men’s and women’s pro tennis players throughout the ATP and WTA tours and the Grand Slam tournaments. This development was confirmed via ATP and WTA’s official Instagram handle.

Tennis stars react to this announcement

It is known that World Number 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas will be a part of the Netflix documentary series. Reacting to this, the 23-year-old Greece national said, “I’m very privileged to be in it. I’m extremely happy they’re bringing this to tennis and making something similar in that sense. I had no doubts about sign up for it. It’s one of the best shows out there.”

Former World Number 3 Dominic Thiem of Austria took to Instagram to convey his excitement. He posted the story on his official Instagram handle with the caption ‘Finally’. Looks like the former US Open champion has been waiting quite some time for the series. American Frances Tiafoe, via his official Instagram account, shared the story with ‘fingers-crossed’ emoji.

Further, Alex de Minaur posted the Instagram story with a ‘watch out for’ emoji. Russian Karen Khachanov shared the news with the story captioned ‘Top’ on his official Instagram handle. Top-ranked American on the men’s circuit, Taylor Fritz and former World Number 2 Tommy Haas, too expressed their excitement by posting an Instagram story.

About the Netflix documentary series

The tennis fans will witness the journey of professional tennis players as they grind out throughout the season to become the best. Moreover, this series will follow the lines of the ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’ documentary which showcases behind-the-scenes looks in the Formula One World Championship.
