Greg Hardy Out of UFC 270 After an Injury Setback

UFC 270, the first pay-per-view of the year, is just around the corner. It has some exciting fights and the fans are excited about it. However, a major heavyweight fight had to be removed from the card. Greg Hardy was originally booked against Alexei Oleinik got re-booked against Sergey Spivak.

Now, that fight is off as Hardy suffered an injury and the UFC opted to not find Spivak a replacement.

‘Prince of War’ took to Instagram to make the announcement. He said, “New date who dis. Lol gotta keep it light, even though I’m kinda sick about it. Putting on a show on the biggest card of the year was my 2022 dream, and now I gotta wait. Sorry to all my fans and haters and to my opponent. I wanted this one bad I even took a short-notice change with no?”

This will come as an enormous blow for Hardy as he was looking to snap his two-fight losing streak. He would hope to recover from the injury soon and get back in the octagon.

UFC 270 has two massive title fights

The first pay-per-view of the year is guaranteed to be a massive one, as it has two title fights. The first one is a trilogy fight between the flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo. After having fought to a draw at UFC 256, they ran it back at UFC 263, where ‘The Assassin Baby’ totally dominated ‘Deus da Guerra‘ and became the champion.

This will be the third fight and whatever respect both had towards each other is gone. Hence, it will be a proper fight and will have the fans on the edge of their seats.

The main event for the evening will be a massive heavyweight title fight. Francis Ngannou will step into the octagon looking to defend his title against Ciryl Gane.

This is a clash of styles, as ‘The Predator‘, who is one of the hardest hitters in the sport, will try to use his unrivaled power and look for a knockout. Meanwhile, Gane, who is a fighter who is light on his feet, will use his movement to break down the champ before potentially relying on his own power to land that one fight-ending blow.
