Retired NFL Star Steve Smith Lets Loose on Colts QB Wentz: “Carson Wentz Is Exactly Who I Would Love My Daughter to Date. But Playing Football? [No]”

Former NFL star Steve Smith Sr. was not holding back any of his punches against Colts QB Carson Wentz. The former Panthers WR was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show and Wentz was one of the topics that ends up emerging. The retired star was not merciful in his assessment of Wentz and his recent performances.

The former Panthers receiver was critical of Wentz and the Colts who did lose to Jacksonville. He was disappointed in the manner of a scenario where a win would have given them a playoff berth, Wentz choked. He was also questioning how Wentz should remain in Indianapolis after repeated failures in showing his value to the franchise.

While talking about his situation, he states, “My point is, you paid the quarterback $45 million, you bet the farm and traded for him, and you’re telling me you can win the game if you minimize him throwing the ball.”

Carson Wentz being called worthless

Smith was also giving out analogies to explain the Colts and the mistake they made with Wentz. He describes Wentz as a falling stock that is plummeting after every outing and the Colts are not willing to accept their mistakes. He also feels that the Colts QB is a bad stock who is now as close to immovable an asset as he possibly could be.

The killer and damning statement about Wentz was one where he states, “Carson Wentz is exactly who I would love my daughter to date. But playing football? [No].” The player is having the worst of his campaigns in 2021 in the NFL. Smith isn’t wrong in calling out Wentz for his disaster-ridden form.

Even hosts Pat McAfee an Indianapolis resident was struggling to defend his own city’s QB. The sad situation that Colts find themselves currently is only going to get worse before ever getting good. The simple fact that both coach Frank Reich and GM Chris Ballard have given up on Wentz is the bottom line. To ensure progress and future success the Colts organization needs to rip off the band-aid and tend to their wounds properly.
