How did the fight between Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze play out?
The opener started with Chikadze and Kattar exchanging blows with each other. However, a miss and a slip gave Kattar a chance to get onto ‘Ninja’. The fight then went to the mat where Kattar tried to multiple maneuvers on Chikadze. He even tried to put Chikadze into a triangle armbar, but ‘Ninja’ was able to see through it and got himself out.
The second round looked to be in Chikadze’s favor in the start, but Kattar kept closing in with no signs of backing up. The Boston native kept in range the entire time and put pressure on the #8 featherweight the entire time.
After that, it was only downhill for Chikadze, as Kattar kept coming in better every time. Notably, Kattar kept mixing in takedowns and sharp strikes that gassed out ‘Ninja’ and later made him lose balance inside the octagon.
