‘It’s Oracene All Over Again’: Venus Williams Reacts to Serena Williams’ Daughter Olympia Training Tennis

A mother and a daughter share a special bond. Mothers act as a role-model for their children and the child often tries to emulate his or her mother. The same is the case with Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., the daughter of Serena Williams.

Olympia takes to the tennis courts

In a reel shared on Instagram via her official Instagram handle, Olympia was seen practicing on the hard courts. She was trying to copy her mother’s two-handed backhand strokes. Further, the caption read ‘Practice makes better’. This indicated that she might be taking lessons in tennis (which was unlike what Serena claimed in her 2018 Wimbledon interview).

Also, her aunt Venus Williams commented, “it’s Oracene all over again!” For those who don’t know, Oracene Price is the mother and former coach of Serena and Venus Williams. The comment indicated that Serena was acting like a coach for her daughter Olympia, just as Oracene coached the Williams sisters when they were young.

Further, during a ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show last year, Serena Williams was asked how seriously does Olympia takes tennis. The younger Williams sister replied, “well, she likes it enough. You know, she likes tennis but I don’t know, honestly, she likes playing the piano. She takes piano lessons and she is teaching me.”

Serena Williams enters another season

The American will be entering her 28th season since turning professional way back in 1995. The 40-year-old is committed to making a comeback after suffering from injuries lately. In the 2021 season, Serena could only play six tournaments owing to being badly hit with injuries. Her previous appearance was at The Championships, Wimbledon where she was forced to retire in the opening round after suffering a right hamstring injury.
