Peyton Manning on Getting Bullied by Legendary LB Ray Lewis: “He’d Whisper in My Ear, ‘I’ll Be Back in a Couple Minutes, You Punk’”

Peyton Manning is known to have some crazy seasons in the NFL. His achievements make one of the most impressive resumes in the league. And just two Super Bowls don’t justify how vast and successful his career was in the NFL. Yet he did surprise everyone on Manningcast yesterday when talking about how he used to get bullied by one of the best linebackers of all time.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was the special guest during the MNF Manningcast. And while they were watching the last Wild Card Game of the season between the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams they started talking about one of the best defensive players of all time. They were talking about the Baltimore Ravens’ middle linebacker Ray Lewis.

Ray during his days in the league used to be a nightmare for the quarterbacks. And Peyton Manning was no exception to it. The NFL legend is also related to the Hollywood/Wrestling superstar Dwayne Johnson. As they both played for the Miami Hurricane football team back in college.

Although The Rock being a defensive end for the team did not see much action during the games, Lewis was promoted to the starting role as a freshman due to his enormous talents and skills. And so during the Manningcast, Lewis became a personality to hook a conversation around.

The elder Manning shared his little-known secret to the viewers that whenever his side met the Ravens, he used to get bullied by Ray Lewis. “Every time Ray Lewis hit me,” he said. “He’d drive me down into the ground and then he’d use me to help himself get up and he’d whisper in my ear, ‘I’ll be back in a couple minutes, you punk.’”

Just like this, Lewis was considered notorious among many quarterbacks. During his tenure with the Ravens, the franchise peaked. He won two Super Bowls with them along with several other accomplishments which go without saying, is that he was worthy of each one of them. He became the greatest of all time and to date, his lullabies haunt the preceding quarterbacks like Peyton Manning.
