Billions of Android users urged to learn amazing hack that helps you text faster

It can help you enter longer bits of information, such as your email address or phone number, into text boxes without laboriously typing them out.

“I’m gonna show you how to never type your email ever again,” kadama told his 1.9million TikTok followers in the November 2021 upload.

To set a custom keyboard shortcut on Android, open the Settings app and search for “personal dictionary”. Tap on it.

Select a language and tap the “plus” icon to add a shortcut.

In the top text box, type in the phrase you want to add to your personal dictionary. This could be your email, home address or a word you frequently use.

In the bottom text box, type in the shortcut phrase that you’ll type to insert the phrase or symbol. In kadama’s example, he uses “@@”.

Now, whenever you type your shortcut, your Android keyboard will suggest your personal dictionary entry as one of its recommended words.

Tap on it to paste your entry into the text box.

You can also add custom keyboard shortcuts on iPhone by going to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.

TikTok is a popular destination for tech tipsters looking to spread little-known tips and tricks to thousands of viewers.

If your Gmail inbox is in need of a declutter, for instance, a TikTok tech expert recently shared a quick and easy solution.

User @tatechtips highlighted a way to organise your emails using the app’s little-known star feature.

Gmail, which boasts 1.5billion users worldwide, lets you mark messages as important by highlighting them with a star.

It’s a way to file key emails into a separate folder in order to help you remember to look at them later.

What users might not know, however, is that you can enable multiple star types in order to distinguish important messages from one another.

It’s a handy way to, for instance, categorise emails for a specific event or from a particular person and list them separately from other crucial emails.

TA Tech Tips, who boasts 620,000 TikTok followers, explained how to set up different star types in a video uploaded in October 2021.

He said: “By now you’ll all know that you can go into your inbox and you can star messages that you may want to mark as important or save for later.

“However, if you go to settings… you can enable other star types so you’ve got more scope to categorise.”
