‘In Your Face’: When Will Ferrell Covered for Tiger Woods and Delivered an Epic Speech

Tiger Woods is an 82- time PGA Tour winner and a 15-time major championship winner and, as a result, probably one of the best players of all time. He turned professional in the year 1996 and has arguably made the most contribution in making the sport famous, all over the world.

Woods won the best athlete of the year award in the 2008 ESPY Awards, but, strangely, someone else was there to receive his award.

Tiger Woods wasn’t present to take the award

Tiger Eldrick Woods, who is also a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame is arguably one of the best ball strikers that the sport has ever seen. Woods is probably the first name that comes into one’s mind when one hears the word golf. He is the joint-record holder for most PGA Tour wins that is 82, equalling Sam Snead’s record.

The year 2008 was truly a great year for Tiger, as he won the US Open at Torrey Pines, and it couldn’t be better as he also won the best athlete award the same year. He won the award at the 2008 ESPY Awards, but strangely, he was not there to collect the award. Interestingly, the person who collected his award is not a golfer, not even his family member.

Surprisingly, it was Will Ferrell, the famous Hollywood actor, and comedian. The most interesting or funny part was that Ferrell was pretending to act like Woods while accepting the award. In his speech, he said“People are always asking me, ‘Tiger, how do you do it?’ And my answer is, ‘Shut up.’ I ask the questions around here. I’m Tiger Woods.”

He added, All I did was sever my ACL and break a bone in my leg and you know, I still won the U.S. Open. And that’s when even I started to believe it’s undeniable, I am the greatest,” In the end, he said, “What can I say, I’m the best. In your face. Goodnight! Goodnight, everybody!”

Tiger coming back to golf

Tiger made arguably one of the greatest comebacks to golf after he suffered an accident in February last year. He returned to golf at the 2021 PNC Championship with his son Charlie Axel Woods and finished second in the event with an overall score of 25 under par.
