There are numerous awesome features on iPhones that Apple, for some reason, does not exactly advertise, leaving many iOS users unaware of their existence.

Luckily, we have rounded up five of the most genius iPhone tricks you probably didn’t know about, but should.

Find your iPhone in the dark

We have all likely misplaced our iPhones in the middle of the night, at least once.

Instead of turning your lights on and searching every square inch of your home at 2 am, you can ask your iPhone’s ‘Siri’ for help.

Simply say “Hey Siri” and ask it to turn the flashlight function on your device, which should help you detect the device.

However, it’s important to note that the ‘Siri’ feature must be turned on beforehand.

Use the Apple button as a logo

One of the more clever iOS features is ‘Back Tap,’ which was launched on September 16, 2020.

The feature lets iPhone users turn the Apple logo on the back of their device into a secret button.

The feature is extremely multifunctional and comes with a wide variety of options including ‘App Switcher,’ ‘Camera,’ ‘Control Centre,’ ‘Lock Screen,’ ‘Mute,’ ‘Notification Centre,’ ‘Screenshot,’ ‘Siri,’ and ‘Spotlight.’

To set up ‘Back Tap’ on your iPhone, first, you need to make sure your iOS system is running on 14 or later.

Next, you must head to your ‘Settings’ > ‘Accessibility’ > ‘Touch’ > ‘Back Tap.’

Once you’ve reached ‘Back Tap,’ you can decide to set up a ‘Double Tap,’ a ‘Triple Tap,’ or both.

Simply tap on the option(s) you want and select from the list of shortcuts.

Use the keyboard as a trackpad

A lot of iOS users are unaware that their iPhone comes with a trackpad feature, which makes selecting text and moving the cursor around much easier.

You can use this feature in any text box, such as your Notes app, a search bar, or a text message.

To access it, simply press and hold one finger on the spacebar (all the other keys will gray out).

Then swipe your finger across the spacebar, and your cursor will move around the text area.

Jump to the top of an app

If you’re in an app (like camera roll) or on a website in Safari, there is a way to scroll up to the top of the page instantly.

This helpful feature is one that most people have used, but inadvertently.

Still, it’s very clever and can make your browsing or app experience much easier.

All you had to do to scroll to the top of the screen is tap on the screen right where the bottom of the notch begins.

If you’re browsing Safari on your phone and accidentally close a tab, there’s a way to recover it in a matter of seconds.

All you have to do is press the tabs button, which looks like an overlapping squares icon.

Then long press on the “+” button and you’ll see a list of recently closed tabs you can reopen.
