Steiner Reveals Promising Update on 2022 Haas F1 Challenger Amid High Hopes

There is no denying that the Haas F1 team have had a tough run, with their performance going downhill since the halfway point of 2019. What started off as a mere tire-heating issue eventually blew up into a massive concern as the American outfit found themselves dwindling at the dead bottom of the field by 2020.

What followed was another disappointing season in 2021, with neither Mick Schumacher nor Nikita Mazepin earning an opportunity to score any point for Haas. However, come 2022, The Guenther Steiner-led outfit could finally be able to regain its older form, thanks to the incoming regulation changes.

Schumacher, too, was recently quite optimistic about how Haas could fair in 2022. Well, his boss, Steiner, has a similar target as well. The Italian wished that his two young drivers could challenge for points this year after enduring a stale outing in 2021.

“My wish is that we can play in midfield. That our boys can fight. And we see how good our boys are now. We don’t know how good they are compared to the others. My wish is that we as The team picks up where we left off in 2019. That we can move forward again,” he said according to RTL.

2022 Haas F1 car almost done

Ever since Christmas, Haas have been pushing hard to get their 2022 challenger done as early as possible. And now, by the looks of it, the American outfit could well put the car together in one piece by the first week of February. Steiner, during the same interview, opened up about Haas’ progress so far.

“The chassis is ready. We did the crash tests just before Christmas and passed them straight away. The guys have one great job done. Now the chassis is assembled and the tank installed. Now it really starts. The thing has to be ready in two weeks,” he said.

Overall, after coping with a rather embarrassing two-year stint, Haas have finally started a season off on the right foot. So, amid amazing pre-season progress, can Haas finally deliver a sufficient number of top 10 finishes this year? Well, let’s see what the future holds.
