I’m a hairdresser, if your hair is always greasy it probably has build up – there’s an easy way to check

A HAIRDRESSER has revealed how to check if your hair has build up – and all you need is a pair of scissors.

Chrissy took to TikTok to reveal the hack, sharing a video of her running the sharp edge of a pair of scissors down a section of somebody’s hair.

As she reached the bottom, some white residue could be seen left on the locks.

“How do you know if your hair has build up?” she asked in the video.

She then continued: “Does it get greasy after a day?  Does colour wash out of your hair fast?

“Is it hard for your hair to hold a hairstyle?

“Is it soft when it’s wet but feel brittle and fried when it’s dry?

“Does it take forever for your hair to dry?”

Despite Chrissy showing the effectiveness of the hack, some commenters on the video advised against it – as it can weaken the hair if it’s done repeatedly.

Regardless, lots of people took to the comments section of the video to ask what to do if they’d answered yes to all the questions.

“For everyone saying what do we do- use a clarifying shampoo!” one person replied.

“Invest in a good salon grade shampoo and conditioner- you wont regret it!!”

“Stop buying grab at the drugstores,” another commented. “Get stuff from a salon cost money for a reason.”

“If you do an apple cider vinegar rinse it helps a lot!” a third person wrote.
