Lorraine Kelly descended into a state of panic on today’s Good Morning Britain when she realised that she missed the first episode of Kate Garraway’s Life Stories, admitting her blunder while speaking to her colleague live on-air.

Last night, Kate hosted the ITV programme for the first time, having taken over the role from Piers Morgan.

Her first interviewee was former professional footballer John Barnes, who chatted about his career at Liverpool and opened up about how he met his wife, Andrea.

While many people tuned in to watch it live at 9pm, Lorraine was not among them… as she thought it was on the following evening.

On Friday’s edition of GMB, Ben Shephard and Kate briefly spoke to Lorraine to find out what she had in store next on her show.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight, 9 o’clock, that’s going to be great,’ the presenter said to Kate… immediately sparking confusion.

‘Last night,’ Ben clarified, as Lorraine gasped in shock.

‘You can watch it on catch-up Lorraine, don’t worry,’ Ben added light-heartedly, as Kate covered her mouth, bursting into laughter over the error.

‘What! I thought it was tonight! You’re joking!’ Lorraine exclaimed.

Letting her off the hook, Ben told her that ‘it’s been a long week’, before quipping: ‘Unless you’re doing something at 9 o’clock tonight?’

Kate then chimed in to say: ‘I’m going round to Lorraine’s house to find the VHS and play it to her, that’s what I’m doing at 9 o’clock tonight.’

Afterwards, Lorraine tweeted about her mishap, writing: ‘Im an eejit – will be watching #lifestories with our Kate Garraway tonight!’

Several viewers found the interaction hilarious, with one writing: ‘Lorraine, your face when you realised, brilliant,’ while another tweeted: ‘Very funny.’

For the next episode of Life Stories, airing on Thursday February 10, Kate will be speaking to singer Charlotte Church.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
