WATCH: Two-Times Olympic Medalist Faces Horrible Crash at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, Misses Out on Olympic Podium

The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 have officially started on the 4th of February post-opening ceremony. Winter Olympians show immense courage to go against gravity to showcase insane moves with terrific speed.

However, some athletes also have to face the harsh sides of the sport. Olympic gold medalist Justine Dufour-Lapointe found herself in a similar situation.

Canadian athlete fails to reach third Olympic podium due to crash

Canada’s freestyle skier Justine Dufour-Lapointe was the favorite to win the Olympic gold medal in the women’s moguls event. However, things did not work out in her favor as the 2014 Olympic gold medalist and 2018 silver medalist faced a crash in the women’s moguls final 2 events of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.

Despite the major setback, Justine showcased immense athletic spirit and strength by getting up and finishing her race.

Justine’s Sister Cheers her up post-Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 Crash

Back in the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Dufour-Lapointe sisters had created history. Chloe Dufour-Lapointe had won the silver medal just behind her sister Justine, who clinched the gold medal.

When Justine had a crash in Beijing, her sister Chloe went ahead to support her. Chloe finished at the ninth position; while Australian athlete Jakara Anthony dominated the first position with an 81.29 score; followed by USA’s Jaelin Kauf and Japan’s Anri Kawamura in second and third position, respectively.

In the final and gold medal event, Jakara successfully clinched the Olympic gold medal. USA’s Jaelin Kauf was at the second position; while the third position was grabbed by ROC’s Anastasiia Smirnova.

Although Justine missed out on her third Olympic podium dream, with her determination and strength, she has successfully taken forward her legacy of being the Olympic champion.
