Oscars 2022: Dame Judi Dench and Jessie Buckley lead nominations

The Oscar nominations are finally here with Dame Judi Dench and Jessie Buckley leading the way.
Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the 2022 nominees, with incredible actresses leading the way in the supporting actress category.
Dame Judi, who’s nominated for Belfast, and Jessie, who’s earned a nod for The Lost Daughter, are up against Ariana DeBose for West Side Story, Kirsten Dunst for The Power of the Dog, and Aunjanue Ellis for King Richard.
Meanwhile, competing in the supporting actor category are Ciarán Hinds for Belfast, Troy Kotsur for CODA, Jesse Plemmons for The Power of the Dog, JK Simmons for Being The Ricardos, and Kodi Smit-McPhee for The Power of the Dog.
After a slightly lacklustre ceremony in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, stars are headed back to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood this year, with fans hoping that all the glitz and glam is officially back.
It’s the latest the Oscars has ever happened, with the ceremony taking place on March 27. Again, eligibility rules have been relaxed. Crucially, those which have been – or will be – made available on streaming platforms ahead of any cinema release can qualify, as long as they meet all other eligibility requirements.
Last year, Chloe Zhao and Nomadland swept up at the awards, securing awards including best director and best picture.

Meanwhile, Daniel Kaluuya made Britain proud as he scooped up the award for best supporting actor, while Sir Anthony Hopkins won best actor in a surprise moment.
