Brit Awards 2022: Mo Gilligan apologises for pre-watershed F-bomb and admits he ‘got carried away’

Mo Gilligan has apologised for swearing during Tuesday night’s Brit Awards before the 9pm watershed. 

The Masked Singer panellist was hosting the Brits for the first time for 2022, taking over from comedian Jack Whitehall. 

Those watching at home were full of praise for Mo, urging him to continue as host full-time, but the live TV event didn’t come without a couple of minor hitches.

At one point, Mo dropped the F-bomb while doing a spot-on Liam Gallagher impression.

He later apologised for the blunder – which happened pre-watershed – as he admitted he ‘got carried away.’

During a segment with Olivia Rodrigo and Maya Jama, he said: ‘Earlier in the show I got a little bit carried away and swore. 

‘Apologies for any offence caused. I lost myself.’

Maya quickly reassured him, replying: ‘It’s alright, it gets exciting. It happens to the best of us.’

Fans quickly reacted to the slip-up on social media, which many clearly found very amusing.

One fan said: ‘Mo swearing has made my night. He’s the best craic host in a long time #brits2022.’

‘Mo having to apologise for swearing lmaooo #brits2022,’ someone else added.

‘Petition for Mo to present the Brits every year from now on,’ another fan said.

‘Mo just doing some causal swearing on live tv #BritAwards,’ a viewer commented.

Elsewhere on the show, Mo couldn’t resist a cheeky ‘party gate’ dig at Prime Minister Boris Johnson. 

‘We all love a party,’ Mo began, ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Speaking of parties, Boris, I know you’re watching.

The various alleged Downing Street parties  are currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Police after a watered-down version of top civil servant Sue Gray’s highly anticipated report was published earlier this month.
