Five iPhone tricks you’ll wish you knew all along — including Live Text feature that turns photos into words

Apple iPhones come loaded with plenty of clever features – here are five that will blow you away.

Since the iPhone was first released in 2007, it has only improved with every new iOS upgrade.

Apple iPhones come loaded with an array of clever features

These improvements focus not only on internal performance updates but new features that can enhance your smartphone experience.

However, many iPhone users are often unaware of the hidden features their devices come with.

Fortunately, we have compiled a list of some top iOS features you absolutely need to know about.

Use ‘Live Text’ to copy text from images

One of the best new features to come out with iOS 15 is ‘Live Text.’

This tool lets you copy and share text within photos you take, receive, or find online.

The feature also lets you translate text from an image, make a call, send an email, and look up directions.

To use these tools, simply tap and highlight the text in an image, and an array of options should automatically pop up.

Furthermore, there is the option to use ‘Live Text’ in the Camera app — simply point your iPhone camera at a photo or image with text, then click on the indicator icon.

Quickly view and send flight information

Thanks to a new iOS update in 2021, all users have to do to get flight information is enter their airline and flight number into a text message.

Simply open up an iMessage chatbox > type in your airline and flight number > hit ‘send.’

As soon as you hit send, the text should be underlined, indicating that the feature worked.

Once underlined, you can tap on the text message, which will reveal two options: (1) Preview Flight, (2) Copy Flight Code.

If you or the person on the receiving end of the message click on ‘Preview Flight,’ you can view all the information regarding the flight such as departure time, arrival time, and time left on the flight.

Use the Apple button as a logo

One of the more clever iOS features is ‘Back Tap,’ which was launched on September 16, 2020.

The feature lets iPhone users turn the Apple logo on the back of their device into a secret button.

The feature is extremely multifunctional and comes with a wide variety of options including ‘App Switcher,’ ‘Camera,’ ‘Control Centre,’ ‘Lock Screen,’ ‘Mute,’ ‘Notification Centre,’ ‘Screenshot,’ ‘Siri,’ and ‘Spotlight.’

To set up ‘Back Tap’ on your iPhone, first, you need to make sure your iOS system is running on 14 or later.

Next, you must head to your ‘Settings’ > ‘Accessibility’ > ‘Touch’ > ‘Back Tap.’

Once you’ve reached ‘Back Tap,’ you can decide to set up a ‘Double Tap,’ a ‘Triple Tap,’ or both.

Simply tap on the option(s) you want and select from the list of shortcuts.

Jump to the top of an app

If you’re in an app (like camera roll) or on a website in Safari, there is a way to scroll up to the top of the page instantly.

This helpful feature is one that most people have used, but inadvertently.

Still, it’s very clever and can make your browsing or app experience much easier.

All you had to do to scroll to the top of the screen is tap on the screen right where the bottom of the notch begins.

Use AirDrop to share a lot of photos

If you’re sharing a large number of photos between Apple products, AirDrop is much more efficient than emailing or using iMessage.

All you have to do is stand within 30 feet of the device you want to send the images to, then make sure both devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.

Once you click on the AirDrop option in your Control Center panel, the other person’s device should show up.

Click on their contact and you’re good to go.

You can also use airdrop to send documents, audio, weblinks, and more.
