AEW Dynamite: ‘Switchblade’ Jay White makes surprise debut

‘Switchblade’ Jay White made a surprise debut on AEW Dynamite this week.
The New Japan Pro Wrestling star broke through the Forbidden Door as he made his first appearance for Tony Khan’s promotion on Wednesday night’s stacked show.
Moments before Keith Lee made an emphatic in-ring debut, White shocked fans in a backstage segment involving the Young Bucks and Adam Cole.
The trio were attacking Roppongi Vice’s Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero when they got interrupted by White himself.
The incoming star – who made a shock debut for IMPACT Wrestling at Slammiversary last summer – threw Beretta into a production truck as he made a fun debut moments before Lee’s own introduction.
Explaining the last-minute deal, Khan wrote on Twitter: ‘I didn’t secure @JayWhiteNZ until Sunday. I realized after the fact that Friday night I butchered my own definition of Forbidden Door in hyping tonight.
‘I heard the fans’ feedback, & wanted to ensure that tonight was a special #AEWDynamite for all. Thank you everyone who watched!’
Of course, Lee not being a true Forbidden Door debutante didn’t take away from the excitement as the Limitless One – who was released by WWE last year – came out as the company’s big new signing.
Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy – flanked by Marq Quen and Matt Hardy – waited to find out his opponent in a qualifier for the Face of the Revolution match, and it was none other than the former NXT and Raw superstar.

He came out to a phenomenal response and absolutely manhandled Kassidy, putting him away with a fireman’s carry powerslam before taking out Quen after the bell.
Elsewhere on Dynamite, Wardlow beat The Blade, Ortiz and Santana challenged Chris Jericho and Jake Hager to a match next week, and CM Punk and his surprise partner Jon Moxley beat FTR after an exchange with The Pinnacle at the top of the show.
Fans also saw Jade Cargill retain her TBS Championship against Booker T’s trainee A.Q.A., and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page is still the AEW World Champion after beating Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match.
AEW Dynamite airs Wednesday nights at 1am on Fite TV.
