Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked with making a swoop for the midfielder.
But according to Marca, Barca are in the driving seat.
They claim that Kessie favours a move to the LaLiga giants over a Prem switch.
Xavi and Co are desperate to bolster their forward line this summer by signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
But they would also like to add another midfielder, with Sergio Busquets now 33.
In addition to his ability to shield the defence, Barca are also attracted to Kessie’s goalscoring ability.
