Denise Welch says she ‘couldn’t live like’ Coleen Rooney after comments about not leaving Wayne ‘unsupervised’

Denise Welch has spoken out on Coleen Rooney’s recent comments about not feeling like she can leave her husband Wayne ‘unsupervised’, saying she ‘couldn’t live like that’.
In a new documentary, which will be released on Friday, former childhood sweethearts Coleen and Wayne open up about his past behaviour with other women, with Coleen explaining why she stayed with him.
She says at one point: ‘It’s not a good thing for Wayne to be unsupervised.’
Speaking about the specific comment, Denise said on Loose Women: ‘I couldn’t live like that anymore.
‘Not leaving him unsupervised – she’s got four children of her own. To me, Coleen forgiving him is one thing but not being able to live with any trust at this stage is something that I think will be detrimental to her.’
While Denise also said people shouldn’t judge a relationship from the outside, Kaye Adams weighed in, saying: ‘When you do a documentary and invite a crew into your house and you discuss your relationship like that on camera, in a way you are inviting people to have an opinion on you.’

In 2004 Wayne confessed to soliciting prostitutes in Liverpool while dating Coleen, saying at the time: ‘I was young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature and before I had settled down with Coleen.’
It was also claimed in 2010 by Helen Wood that the Derby County manager paid £1,000 for a threesome with her and Jennifer Thompson in a Manchester hotel while Coleen was five months pregnant.
Addressing his indiscretions in the documentary, Wayne, 36, says: ‘Stuff which has happened in the past with girls for instance, of course, it’s the stuff I regret, so much I feel there’s stuff stuck against my name.

‘I think it’s important because it is part of what’s happened with my life growing up and it’s stuck and maybe tarnished my reputation as a person.’
The documentary also sees Coleen go into further detail about her husband’s issues around alcohol.
‘I think the first time, we were young so there was a lot of argument, Wayne was hanging around with people that weren’t good for him,’ she says, referring to an incident from early on in their relationship.
‘Lovely people, but together, with alcohol, not good. I told him that from day one. I didn’t want him to stop being friends with them, but I just didn’t want him to go out in situations with them because they got themselves into bad situations.’

The pair met aged 12 in the Liverpool suburb of Croxteth where they both lived, before getting together aged 16 shortly before Wayne’s career took off at Everton.
They married in a lavish wedding ceremony in June 2008 when they were both 22, and welcomed their eldest son Kai the following year.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV. Rooney is released on Prime Video on February 11.
