The Apprentice candidates leave punters wincing as tour guide challenge takes disastrous turn

THE Apprentice candidates are in for a rude awakening on tonight’s installment when their tour guide challenge around the Welsh countryside goes awry.

In a teaser for this evening’s episode, viewers watch as hopeful Nick Showering painfully attempts to make his team’s train tour more exciting than it is.

The 31-year-old is joined by his team mates Brittany Carter and Stephanie Affleck on board when the train stops for its “first viewpoint”, which appears to be in the middle of nowhere.

Thinking on his feet, the finance manager, clad in a green tour jumper and chinos, says they’ve stopped to take in the “beautiful” views when a tractor drives by and some sheep are seen in the distance.

The Apprentice star starts strong and says: “This is our first viewpoint we’re going to stop at.

“What were doing is taking in the beautiful agriculture views I mean, they’re absolutely breathtaking.”

However things quickly take a turn for the worst as Nick tries to reel off facts about Wales’ agriculture industry while Steff and Brittany watch on.

“Farming is very, very important to the Welsh economy and that is the main reason why Wales is sheeping…” Nick stutters.

“… Erm the sheep farming industry is so significant and such a big part of its economy.”

Nick’s rambling didn’t appear go down well with punters as they looked unimpressed as they stared at fields.

The teaser comes a week after a massive spelling blunder nearly got team mate Brittany fired following their video game challenge.

Part of the task involved creating and directing a promotional video to help them sell their product.

One of the groups led by the Front of House manager and assisted by Francesca Kennedy Wallbank doing the marketing, decided to make a game around the concept of saving the environment.

SPELLING GAFFE

The concept of the game saw a player called ‘Sam the Scientist’ head to the Arctic trying to stop from ice caps from melting.

But the game was doomed from the outset with Francesca directing the Akshay and Sophie in the promotional video.

The two women ended up clashing over what he needs to be doing on camera.

While Sophie wanted Akshay to reference a rabbit that would be in the game, Francesca repeatedly cut her off and said it was not needed for the promo clip.

Described as an ‘arcade game’ by Lord Alan Sugar, the game included cute penguins but once they put their idea in front of investors, the blunders were quickly pointed out.

It started with the bold title ‘Artic Saviour’ across a massive cinema screen where the team was presenting at the Samsung building in London’s King’s Cross.

“How do you spell Arctic?” asked one of the investors, while another questioned, “how many penguins are there in the arctic.”

The shocked candidates realised their very embarrassing blunder and tried to smooth things over with the investors.

But their excuses did not help them and they managed to attract zero investment.

Once in the boardroom, Lord Sugar grilled the team about how they could get it so wrong and who was to blame.

He called back Brittany, Francesca and Sophie into the boardroom with each clambering about why the should face the chopping block.

Sophie was put in the firing line for not speaking up enough, while she accused Francesca of the horrifying misspelling of arctic.

But eventually, Sophie was saved with Lord Sugar firing Francesca as she was head of marketing and “responsible” for the blunder.

The Apprentice continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One. Watch live and on-demand on BBC iPlayer.
