VIDEO: Shaun White Cannot Hold Back Tears After Emotional Final Run at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 Halfpipe

After two decades of dominance, Shaun White had ended his snowboarding career. He is one of the best snowboarders in the world and had his final say on proceedings. While he looked to win his fourth Olympic medal, things were not easy for White. He landed some of the best tricks in his career but could not come up big in the final run. Thus, an emotional White could not go out perfectly.

He was visibly disappointed after his final run but leaves Beijing with incredible memories. Arguably, the greatest snowboarder in the world has left the building.

Shaun White gets emotional

The sensational White has ended her career after a sensational Winter Olympics. He scored 72.00 in his first run, starting the proceeding with simple tricks and flips. In the second run, he raised his game up, scoring 85.00, hoping to get a bronze medal. In the final run of his career, White landed two perfect tricks but faltered at the end of the third one. When he came crashing down, fans were shocked and could not believe that the greatest snowboarder they witnessed had ended his career.

Thus, he slid down the half-pipe, soaking in all the adulation and respect he got from fans and other competitors. They gave him a standing ovation for what has been a glittering career to date. Other athletes came in and congratulated him as White leaves his favorite sport. He became emotional at the end while looking up for the scores as it is the end of an era. What a career he has had to date.

Hirano wins the gold

With White going up against his biggest rival, it was good news for Ayumu Hirano, though. He won the gold medal with a sensational final run by scoring 96.00. Australia’s James Scotty led the competition until the second run but Hirano proved why he is the best snowboarder in the world right now after his victory in Beijing.

From one legend to another, the day White has retired, Hirano steps up to take his place. There were shades of White’s 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics run where White pulled off a stunning performance at the end of his final run. With all said and done, respect Shaun White for competing at the highest level to date.
