And Silva produced a quite ridiculous half-volley which flew past Antonio Adan and into the back of the net.
But not before it delightfully clipped the crossbar on its way in.
The goal doubled Man City’s lead inside 20 minutes as they appeared to take the two-legged tie away from the Portuguese side in rapid fashion.
Yet despite the disappointment of their team going 2-0 down, they still stood to applaud their fellow countryman’s stupendous strike.
Silva came through the Portuguese ranks at Sporting’s rivals Benfica before leaving for Monaco in 2014.
He then joined Man City in 2017 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best players in the world.
More to follow.
