“His Performance Was Wonderful”: Yuzuru Hanyu Finally Breaks Silence on Rival Nathan Chen Taking Over His Title at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022
The figure skating legend Yuzuru Hanyu might not have had a perfect Olympic Games, but that did not stop him from capturing attention. He is one of the best figure skaters in the world. Displaying technique and poise in most of his performances, he has achieved it all. But, Nathan Chen took home the gold medal after putting in a sensational figure skating performance.
Hanyu, meanwhile, fell down twice in the event as he lost points after that. But, the legendary athlete has achieved it all and is one of the best figure skaters in the sport’s history. A humble guy on and off the ice rink, Hanyu congratulated Chen on his latest victory.

During a press conference, Hanyu applauded Chen for performing a stunning performance. Breaking the short program world record by scoring 113.97 points, he showed why he is the best figure skater in the world right now. Chen achieved his lifelong dream of winning an Olympic gold medal and Hanyu recognized that. He applauded his commitment to the sport while congratulating Chen on a wonderful performance at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
“So Nathan Chen, the gold medalist, I thought his performance was wonderful. Getting a gold medal in the Olympic Games is a fantastic achievement. I was working hard trying for the gold medal. And I am sure it was the same for Nathan. Four years ago, he could not get a gold medal. But he managed to do it this time, and I think it is a wonderful achievement,” said Hanyu.

Yuzuru won two back-to-back gold medals in the figure skating competition at the 2014 and the 2018 Winter Olympics. It proved to be a sensational performance by the outstanding Nathan Chen. Hence, there is a change of guard in the figure skating picture.
Chen dominated the Olympics
As his short program performance was nothing short of fantastic, he carried that form into the long program. Landing his signature five quadruple jumps, the athletes are focusing more on landing these jumps, to get high scores. Chen scored a combined total of 332.60 that all but confirming his medal.

It was an outstanding performance from the American athlete. He is the future of the sport and his performance in Beijing is the benchmark now, for the rest of the figure skaters. As for Hanyu, he hopes to compete in the next Olympics and take back what he fought for a long time.
