One of TV’s most beloved double acts is back on TV screens with a brand new series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – better known as Ant and Dec – have been entertaining audiences for over 30 years after first starring as child actors in the CBBC drama Byker Grove.

The Geordie entertainers went on to form pop act PJ & Duncan before becoming the presenters audiences know and love today, hosting both Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, winning various awards along the way.

But how old are the pair now, and who do they spend their time with when they’re not together?

Ant and Dec are both 46-years-old and were born in 1975.

Dec is the older of the two, with his birthday being September 25, while Ant was born on November 18.

Newcastle-upon-Tyne is home to both of them, and the duo met while working on Byker Grove when they were 14.

Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross back in 2006, the pair admitted they didn’t hit it off straight away.

‘We didn’t particularly like each other at first, I thought he was miserable,’ said Dec.

‘We’ve rowed a few times – we’re quite competitive,’ Ant added.

But of course, they worked out their differences and went on to become the award-winning double act they are today.

‘If we hadn’t met I don’t think we would have got as far’ said Ant.

In fact, their bond is so strong they are reportedly insured against the other one dying.

Dec said back in 2006: ‘I just know that if he Ant kicks the bucket, I get a massive payout. I don’t know how much. We have people who look after that.’

‘I don’t think we’re insured if we fall out, though’ joked Ant.

The duo doesn’t spend all their time together, of course, with both of them in happy relationships.

Dec is married Ali Astall, who is the manager of both Donnelly and McPartlin.

The happy couple wed in Dec’s hometown of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2015. Ant was – of course – his best man.

Ali gave birth to their first daughter – named Isla Elizabeth Anne – on September 1, 2018.

Ant married his girlfriend and former personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett in 2021 at a ceremony in St Michael’s Church, Hampshire. They had been in a relationship since 2018.

And yes, if you were wondering, Dec was his best man.

Ant became stepdad to Anne-Marie’s two daughters from a previous relationship.

Ahead of their wedding, Ant credited Anne-Marie with being ‘the fundamental reason for the great change in my life’ – following his guilty plea to a drink-driving charge in 2018.

He told The Sun: ‘She’s been my rock. She’s a beautiful soul. We’re very happy. I’m in the best place I’ve been in my life, to be honest with you. It’s great.’

This is Ant’s second marriage, as he had previously been married to make-up artist Lisa Armstrong. They were a couple for 23 years, and were married for 11 of them.

After getting married in 2006, the pair separated in January 2018, and their divorce was reportedly finalised in April 2020.

They had no children together, but continue to share custody of their beloved dog Hurley.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturday nights at 7pm on ITV.
