‘My Teammates Carried Me’: Mikaela Shiffrin Makes an Emotional Statement After Final Medal Quest Ends Short at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022
The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 have finally come to an end, and for Mikaela Shiffrin, they could certainly have gone better. Shiffrin had elected to stay for a sixth event at these Olympics, a record-tying amount of events at an Olympics.
However, from the very start, she was unable to medal in any individual or team event. Now, at her final mixed event, she was unable to score a team medal either. Team Norway edged out Team USA for the bronze medal.
Despite having a medal-less Olympics this year, Shiffrin is looking ahead positively. Additionally, she has nothing but love and respect for her USA teammates.
Mikaela Shiffrin is grateful for her teammates
As the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 come to a close, Mikaela Shiffrin will return home without a medal. Nevertheless, she doesn’t mind, and that is all because of her USA teammates.
Team USA went up against Team Norway in the mixed team small final event, where the latter won. However, in the end, Shiffrin had nothing but praise for her teammates.

“My teammates are what carried me through this Olympics,” Shiffrin said. “I don’t think I can emphasize it enough how unbelievable it is for us to be here and be in the hunt for a medal,” she stated.
Despite everything, Mikaela Shiffrin does understand that people would say they “came up short”. However, she is simply grateful to have “this depth on our team, coming from the US, competing in a European-dominated sport”.
