Courteney Cox didn’t realise how ‘strange’ injectables made her face look: ‘People would talk about me’

Friends star Courteney Cox has said she didn’t realise how ‘strange’ she began to look after turning to cosmetic injectables and fillers to ‘chase youthfulness’ after finding fame on the beloved sitcom in the 90s.
The 57-year-old star was the centre of seemingly endless, snarky chatter about her face in the noughties after turning to the treatments, but knew she had to stop when she realised her friends were talking about her changing appearance.
Speaking about ageing now, the 57-year-old star said that while ‘there was nothing wrong’ with her upcoming milestone birthday of 60, she simply couldn’t believe she was on the approach after previously struggling to let go of looking like she did during her time on Friends, which ran from 1994-2004.
She told The Sunday Times: ‘There was a time when you go, “Oh, I’m changing. I’m looking older.” And I tried to chase that [youthfulness] for years. And I didn’t realise that, oh s**t, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.
‘I’d say, “The day you realise what your friends were talking about.” Because people would talk about me, I think. But there was a period where I went, “I’ve got to stop. That’s just crazy.”‘
And while the Monica Geller star realises there is pressure on actresses to, somehow, miraculously, not age, her own inner critic was always harsher.

She said: ‘The scrutiny is intense, but I don’t know if it could be more intense than what I put on myself.’
Courteney went on to say that she’s keen to ‘age gracefully’ now, but is still a ‘product whore’ when it comes to beauty.
Speaking to New Beauty in 2017, Courteney revealed she’d had her fillers dissolved.
She explained: ‘I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do. Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop.
‘I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.’
The actress is deep in promo for her latest series Shining Vale and during a recent interview opened up about her apparently haunted house in the UK.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the Friends actress said: ‘I lived in a house that was absolutely haunted.

‘I didn’t believe it at first until a situation happened and there was no way not to believe it because the UPS guy saw something behind me and I heard enough.
‘I don’t want to tell you too much because I don’t want them to hear me but I did have an experience just the other night.
‘I’m in England, I mean how many people are old that died here?! It’s a stomping ground for ghosts!’
