Jane McDonald: My Yorkshire viewers all have the same complaint about new Channel 5 show
JANE McDonald: My Yorkshire viewers were baffled that she star tried to impress fans with a tour of her hometown Wakefield.
The singer and presenter, who is well known for her cruising around exotic locations, also visited the village of Holmfirth, the setting for the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine.

She returned to God’s Own Country to celebrate the region’s best assets and take a trip down memory lane where she grew up.
But Jane left viewers divided over the show’s location, with one writing: “Watching Jane McDonald’s Yorkshire and I’m sorry, God love her and God love Wakefield, but it does not look like Paris.”
Another posted: “As if Jane McDonald hasn’t had a rough enough last few years she’s now been employed by channel 5 to try and sell Wakefield to the masses. #myyorkshire.”
“Jane McDonald on 5 polishing the turd that is Wakey and making it look like somewhere someone would actually want to go,” a third commented.
A fourth shared: “Not Jane McDonald saying people visit from all over the world to see the Hepworth gallery in WAKEFIELD.”
Another added: “Jane McDonald is on Ch5 right now in Holmfirth & banging on about Wakefield @Visit_Wakefield – did you authorise this?”

It is the latest in a string of shows Jane has made for the channel, where she has become one of its biggest names and a real ratings winner.
A TV insider said: “This is a deeply emotional journey for her, and not just because she was born and raised in Wakefield.
“It’s also the city where she met her fiancé, musician Eddie Rothe, and the place where he died earlier this year after battling lung cancer.
“So there are some incredible memories for Jane in Yorkshire, both sad and joyous, which are the backdrop for this very personal show.”
Although Jane first shot to fame in 1998 on BBC documentary The Cruise, she has made her home at Channel 5.
Her shows include Jane & Friends and Cruising with Jane McDonald, which won a Best Features Bafta in 2018.
But last year she made the decision to step back from making them.
Her new Yorkshire project sees Channel 5 yet again dip into its current appetite for subjects linked to the county.
