Great Pottery Throwdown 2022: Who is in the final?

The Great Pottery Throwdown finale is in sight with just three potters left in the competition.

Judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller will have their work cut out next week as they prepare to crown one lucky competitor the winner, with Siobhán McSweeney and Ellie Taylor returning as presenters.

Sadly, hopeful Lucinda Lovesey was eliminated from the race during the semi-finals, which saw the contestants make fully functional urinals and recreate Wedgwood Jasperware.

So, who will be facing off in the final? Here’s everything you need to know.

AJ Simpson

AJ is a 21-year-old design graduate from Aberdeen. They enjoy the process of collecting raw materials by hand and incorporating them into their work.

The youngest potter in the series, AJ fell in love with pottery after starting their 3D design course at university.

Anna McGurn

Anna is vying for the top spot (Picture: Channel 4)

Anna, 57, is a social care facilitator from Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

She describes herself as a ‘messy home potter working out of a corner of a leaky old cold shed, making stuff on a treadle wheel and doing a spot of handbuilding too.’

Christine Cherry

Christine is a 57-year-old art youth worker from Preston. She returned to pottery after hanging up her 20-year teaching career.

She gave throwing a try and became such a fan that she bought a wheel, but her real passion lies with slip casting porcelain.

The Great Pottery Throwdown concludes on Sunday at 7.45pm on Channel 4.
