Luxury boat of the future lets you fly silently above water for two HOURS
A NEW luxury boat developed by Swedish company Candela allows you to hover over the sea in silence.
The 28-footer, which has been named the C-8, was revealed by Candela last year and is currently available to reserve on their website.
Candela’s C-8 lets you essentially fly above the sea for several hours
The new high-speed craft uses zero fossil fuels and comes equipped with a next-generation hydrofoil system that allows it to essentially fly above the water.
Utilizing sensors and avionics, the system’s retractable foils and electric motor extends when the boat reaches a certain speed, allowing water passing over to push the boat above the waves.
This process not only allows for 80 percent less drag and more speed than standard speedboats but also for a noiseless and exceptionally smooth ride.
The C-8 is also incredibly energy-efficient – a two-hour charge lets the vessel cover a range of up to 50 nautical miles while foiling, which is the longest range offered by any electric boat, according to Candela.
“Conventional speedboats are actually some of the most energy-inefficient crafts on the planet,” Candela communications manager Mikael Mahlberg told Cnet.
“A conventional planing hull uses 15 times as much fuel per kilometer as a family car,” they added.

The vessel can reach up to 30 knots at full speed and comes equipped with a 44 kWh battery pack that can fully recharge in just two hours.
The boat’s foils can also be retracted so you can use the C-8 like a “regular” boat.
The C-8 will set you back by around $322,000, although the vessel is reportedly 95 cheaper than boats that run on gasoline or diesel.
According to Candela’s website, the vessel “is built to last a human lifetime, without maintenance.”
Up to eight people can comfortably fit on the boat, which comes with a sunbed, a sofa, and three front-facing chairs.
Below deck, the craft features a bathroom with a shower and a large front cabin that can sleep two adults and two kids.
