My favourite 4K TV on sale right now keeps getting cheaper – now 38% less

The TV market is a ruthless place: you’ll always find retailers constantly trying to lower their prices to outbid each other.

But this great news for shoppers – and that’s why I’m delighted to see the 50-inch Philips PUS7556 4K TV fall to £219 less than the RRP.

I first spotted this TV on the Curry’s site, where it was reduced to £359 in the high-street retailer’s current payday sale.

But I’ve now seen for less on Amazon – and I wouldn’t be surprised if prices fall even further.

Philips 50-inch PUS7556/12 4K HDR TV – buy from Currys (£359), Amazon (£353.99)

This isn’t the flashiest UK TV deal right now – but it’s my favourite, and here’s why.

Lots of people (myself included) simply can’t stretch to the four figure amounts you have to pay for top-of-the-line TVs.

Yes, they have industry-leading features and jaw-dropping screen quality – but are they still worth maxing out your credit card for?

If you’re tactical and you know what to look for, you can pick up an excellent TV for under £500 – case in point, the Philips PUS7556.

Look through those confusing letters and numbers in the name, and you’ll find ‘HDR’. That stands for ‘High Dynamic Range’.

This is a type of picture tech that noticeably improves the quality of standard 4K – you get richer colours, darker darks and better levels of contrast.

This is all powered by Philips’s P5 engine, an internal processor that uses AI to fine-tune and perfect whatever you’re watching in real-time.

At the original price of £549, this is a nice enough feature to see – but at the discounted price of £359, it’s an enticing proposition.

The 50-inch screen is a good fit for plenty of viewing spaces (remember, the viewing distance should be around 1.5 times the screen size).

So if you’re on the hunt for a new TV in the budget category, this one is well worth a look – not that anything about it feels remotely budget.

There’s plenty of great tech deals going in the Currys payday sale.

Plus, there’s a couple of insanely good giveaways with Samsung Galaxy S22 pre-orders.

I also recently wrote about this brilliant Echo Dot and Ring Video Doorbell deal at Amazon.
