‘I Couldn’t Say No to Hug’- Swiss Ski Racer Wendy Holdener on Bumping Into Roger Federer
Swiss tennis player Roger Federer has been one of the most inspirational athletes in the modern era. How he has constructed his career over the past two decades has made him one of the most loved personalities around.
Federer has been out of action for a while. He has been slowly but steadily returning to normalcy after undergoing another knee surgery towards the end of last season.

Recently, Roger was spotted attending the alpine ski race. Out there, he came across Swiss racer Wendy Holdener. She bumped into him and was in splits. The racer could not imagine seeing the sight of the great man ahead of her. After meeting him, Wendy stated, “I couldn’t say no to his hug.”

Speaking about Wendy, she has placed herself in the history books. She is a two-time World champion combined and a five-time Olympic medalist. Holdener was an exceptional athlete in the juniors as well.
Coming to tennis, Federer has not been seen since the Wimbledon Championships last season. He lost in the quarterfinal to Hubert Hurkacz, which came as a disappointment to his camp considering the success he has had at the venue.
Competed at Roland Garros after a lengthy Grand Slam break
Prior to that, he was seen at the French Open 2021. After winning the opening three-round, he withdrew before the fourth round as he lacked match fitness. He was competing in his first Grand Slam event after more than a season at the Australian Open 2020.

The Swiss maestro intends to make a comeback soon. He has been recovering in order to hit the practice courts soon. Recently, his coach and friend Sevrin Luthi mentioned the same but felt it was difficult to think about the possibility of him being able to make it in time for the Wimbledon Championships this year.
