The Dancing On Ice stars make ice skating look like a breeze, but the sport is famously dangerous.

The contestants and their professional skating partners attempt some truly amazing moves to wow the judges and earn them a spot at the top of the leader board and avoid elimination – sometimes the risk pays off, but other times it can end in disaster.

Unfortunately, like previous years, a number have skaters have suffered some nasty falls.

Here are all the injuries that have happened in this year’s Dancing on Ice so far.

Bez

Happy Mondays star Bez experienced one of the most brutal falls of the series back in January, while he was training for the show.

Just two days before Dancing on Ice’s new season, the 57-year-old fell to the ground backwards, which is when his protective helmet bounced off, and hit his head on the ice.

In an unprecedented move, the producers of the show have allowed Bez to wear a helmet during live shows following his injury.

Talking about the fall on ITV’s Lorraine, the musician said he would continue to wear the helmet for as long as he was on the show.

While Bez hasn’t taken another fall on the show since then, his professional partner Angela Egan fell midway through their survival skate last week, leading to the pair’s elimination.

Connor Ball

The Vamps star has suffered from two injuries so far. The first one saw him smash his chin on the ice just moments before his live performance.

Connor still managed to push through and put on an amazing show after getting stitches. However, during his performance, his stitches burst open, requiring urgent medical attention.

Talking about his fall on Instagram, the singer said: ‘We were meant to open the show. I had a fall and hit my face off the ice.

‘Luckily it’s been stitched up now. I had five stitches by the amazing doctors of the show. They sorted me out. ‘Thank you so much for everyone who voted for us.’

His second injury happened more recently and saw his partner Alexandra Schauman’s blade going into his leg when the pair fell during their routine.

The famous star shared the aftermath of his injury on social media, revealing that he ended up having to get stitches on his leg, comparing the damage to a ‘shark bite’.

Rachel Stevens

The famous singer ended up not making her Dancing on Ice debut after injuring her wrist during training.

At the time, a spokesperson from ITV explained: ‘Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday’s show. ‘We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend.’

As promised, the S Club 7 singer did return to the ice the following week, but was voted off.

Talking about her elimination, the star revealed that her injury affected her performance through damaging her confidence and causing her to miss valuable rehearsal time.

Olympian Kye Whyte was also injured during rehearsals.

The BMX sportsman sprained his knee in an awful fall and had to miss a live show while he recovered.

Talking about the situation, the Olympic medallist said that as an athlete he was used to injuries, but he felt bad for his professional partner Tippy Packard who didn’t get to perform on the show that week either.

Stef Reid

Athlete Stef Reid was another famous name that took a fall right before her live performance.

The Paralympian slipped from the hands of her partner Andy Buchanan while rehearsing a lift.

Thankfully, she wasn’t too badly injured, so she was able to shake it off and perform her routine.

The reality TV star and her professional partner Joe Johnson both fell during a live performance.

The pair lost their balance mid-lift, causing them both to end up on the floor.

Unfortunately, the fall led to Liberty being eliminated from the show that night.

Regan Gascoigne

The professional dancer, singer, and actor recently revealed that he popped his shoulder out during rehearsals and is generally a bit ‘battered and bruised’.

Chatting with Lorraine Kelly, Regan explained how easy it is to accidentally get injured, saying: ‘The other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up, on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily – it just happen.’

Sally Dyvenor

Another skater that suffered a horrible crash was the Coronation Street actress Sally Dyvenor.

The 58-year-old fell out flat on the ice only days before a live show and went on Instagram to say: ‘Please God this doesn’t happen on Sunday’.

The star’s wishes came true and she made it through her performance without any injuries.

Dancing on Ice continues tonight on ITV at 6.30pm.
